Anesthesia

As the anesthesia wears off post surgery - your face may ache, and you may have a dull headache. Plan on staying in bed with your head elevated (except for going to the bathroom) for the first day.
The swelling and bruising around your face will increase at first, reaching a peak after two or three days. Applying cold compresses will reduce this swelling and make you feel better. Most of the swelling and bruising should disappear within two weeks or so. (Some subtle swelling-unnoticeable to anyone but you and your surgeon-will remain for several months.. Your surgeon will let you know when you are ready for exercise. During your healing period avoid drinking alcohol, which can lead to fluid retention and delay recovery. It may take two-three months for swelling to fully dissipate and up to 6 months for incision lines to mature.
